Where's Ryan?

Posted by

Ryan just came back from Western Mexico. The objective was to chase rooster fish from the shore; however, he had just missed them! There were plenty of fish of all shapes and sizes to be had though, and we got plenty of footage being revised right now of him fishing the 3 pc. 9' Close Quarters, 5 pc 12'6" Sling Shot 1505, and 2pc 6' travel jig sticks he got made specifically for traveling. He reported all of them fished well. The 9' Close Quarters was an all around fun rod that despite its small diameter provided distance and strength which made it a very fun rod to catch fish on. While he only got to use the travel jig stick on a panga, its fast recovery on the pickup and amazing bite sensitivity would make it a good candidate to be used around the rocky coves found in Mexico. While the jigging rod was intended to be rated from 100 gr to 200 gr it exceeded the rating and held up to 250 gr! He also reported the 12'6" Sling Shot launched like a cannon and the smooth action would never reveal it as a 5pc rod. All three rods broke down to fit in Century's Close Quarters rod bag, as well as, 3 reel frames as braided spools of line are against TSA regulation. He had no problems with boarding the US planes with the bags, but had to check the rod bag leaving Mexico. Interested in a travel rod for your next adventure? You know where to find them!
